Microsoft, 2001
Great Pulteney St, London W1

Microsoft was impressed by MoreySmith's inspired use of space and aesthetics in their concept for the Soho based MSN and Expedia business divisions. The resulting design is a fully integrated facility, which enhances employee satisfaction and productivity, whilst reinforcing the identity and positioning of these Microsoft brands. A swimming pool theme has been chosen for this breakout area, making best use of the existing change in floor level.

Street entrance with illuminated blue glass cladding to the lift wall and illuminated reception desk. The bridge at first floor level links workspaces.

Comfortable breakout and meeting areas enhance creativity - with 'padded cell' rooms for brainstorming sessions and fish themed graphics.

A curved counter, formed in a single fibrous plaster moulding, defines the teapoint area for relaxation and mobile working.

The upper floor café which we found ourselves, years later, redesigning for the Nokia project! The counter and floor are bamboo.

Large vision panels in the doors bring daylight deep into the floorplate.
