Land Securities, the UK's largest quoted property company, needed to update the public areas of its Strand headquarters. MoreySmith was commissioned to redesign the lift lobbies, reception and waiting areas in the eight-story building. The brief - to capture the company's culture and values, and reflect its status as the UK's leading property company - led to emphasis on space and light in an elegant, contemporary environment. Here the view is from behind the ground floor reception across to an illuminated graphics slot showing the work of the company. The illuminated display case in the foreground carries models of Land Securities properties.
We commission artwork to add individuality and focus. The mobile sculpture here is by Dan Chadwick, replacing a reproduction chandelier with a group of UV coated forms that glows both day and night. It floats high above ground floor reception, animating and populating the double height space.
The pristine white lacquer walls continue the reflective brilliance of the surfaces; the company logo is given both subtlety and solidity in satin stainless steel.
The ground floor reception desk is given a ghostly glow with illuminated prismex, enhancing its visibility from the street - a far cry from the previous incarnation!
