MoreySmith's work in this new 9000 sq m building on the edge of The City included a redesigned reception area and a new business lounge in the basement, converted from a blockwork retail store, incorporating a high-spec conference suite. Major structural work was involved, cutting through the ground floor slab to create a double height space rising from the basement (where the business lounge is located), to the entrance and reception on the ground floor.
This is the spacious lounge and its 'grand entrance' staircase, emphasising the space as one brightly lit volume. Circular fabric lampshades emphasise scale and give subtle reassurance of ease and comfort.
The soft seating area in reception, with 'liquid drop' luminaires and deep pile rugs adding style and warmth. Plus a shot up the stairs from the business lounge, demonstrating the visual connection between reception and the space below.
