The client
In the reception, shown here, a definitively modern fireplace adds warmth and vitality to a traditionally proportioned space. Forms are emphatically modern; the backlit desk with its granite top and leather detailing, the sleek timber panelling, furniture and lighting are streamlined but comfortable.
Meeting rooms also walk the traditional/contemporary line. Natural light is maximised by glass walls but security and confidentiality is expressed with heavy timber doors. Period colours give a muted tone but energy is expressed in the reflective surfaces and stylish lighting. The take on traditional timber panelling is a modern one.
A bench-style desk accommodates six clerks. Furniture is high quality but functional and streamlined; individual task lights add personality to the workspace, while overhead hangs a super-slim suspended fitting.
